Yes, I am going to hell. This should be the new tagline to my journal, hai na?
Title: Stumble and You'll Fall
Author:
plazmah
Rating: PG
Fandom(s): Bollywood - RPF
Pairing(s): Hrithik Roshan/Aishwarya Rai
Summary: During the filming of Jodhaa-Akbar, their resolve slips as the tension builds.
Notes: WHAT HAVE I DONE??!! *sob* I feel unclean somehow. This fic isn't very long cause I was squicking myself out as I wrote it. And yet, I still managed to finish writing.Someone should write me Ash/Abhi/Hrithik as compensation. Thanks to
wasabi_girl1 for the beta. Don't know if I got any of the personalities right, but I didn't want to tarry too long on this fic anyway. Enjoy the fruit of my heresy, you bastards! ;P
---------------------------
Leaping forward, Aishwarya pulled back her sword and prepared to strike, taking one-two-three steps forward, spinning while she lunged... and then he smiled at her.
Her right foot hooked on the back of her left foot and she tumbled forward onto the stone, sword clattering in the silence.
"Cut!" Gowariker called as a smattering of laughter echoed through the crew. Salvaging her ego, Ash gingerly picked herself up and mentally cursed herself for losing her focus.
"Okay, take a break. The last take was just fine, we'll use that instead." The director smiled reassuringly.
Ash shook her head, knowing they had to film again. Her action sequences had been very precise in Last Legion, there was no way she would put on a sub-par performance for this movie. "One more try, please."
"I agree. Nothing wrong with striving for perfection, correct?" Hrithik added, stretching his arms over is head. Ash casually averted her eyes for her own good.
"Theek hai, but take a break anyway." Gowariker said as he looked up at the a morning sun and fanned himself in vain. "It's too damn hot outside."
---
Ash had no problem with the oppressive heat; the harsh rays of the sun simply glanced off of her uselessly. So there she stood in her humid trailer, composed and pristine, calmly drinking her bottled water. Her reflection in the mirror betrayed no worry, no panic, no distress over her state of mind. She should have learned from her mistakes. Had filming Dhoom 2 taught her nothing?
It did. But he's managed to smash my plan to remain professional into pieces.
It didn't help that every article she happened across was placing such high hopes for their chemistry. Chemistry? What was this chemistry people spoke of? All Ash knew was that there was a depth of mystery behind his brilliant eyes, a wind-spun poem in his voice, the fire of a thousand suns in his touch. Chemistry must be unexplainable; none of that made any sense, silly.
Ash was thrown out of her musings by a sharp knock at the door of her trailer. Probably the girl in charge of her costuming. "Come in."
"I've never seen you that clumsy before, is anything wrong?" Ash whirled to see Hrithik closing the door behind him with a smug look on his face.
Ash frowned. You know exactly what's wrong with me. "If anyone saw you come here on your own, the media will jump all over it." she warned him, her heart already speeding up. He wasn't supposed to be here, alone with her. This was a recipe for disaster. It didn't help that merely minutes earlier, he had pressed her against a pillar with such a fever in his eyes that she couldn't help but be drawn to his lips, afraid that she would kiss him when the script did not call for one. Somehow, this tension (iss nasha) was even worse than the kiss they had shared. The kiss had been all acting. But this... the line was blurring lately.
"No one saw, trust me." He spoke softly, approaching her as if she was a caged tiger. "I'm glad you convinced them to re-film the scene, we really could do the scene better with a few more trials."
"Is that what you came here to say?"
"I didn't come here to say anything." And with that he fell silent, the space between them shockingly close as he did nothing more than look at her with that look on his face, the one that stopped her heart dead in its tracks...
I'm going to regret this, Ash thought as her body moved of its own accord, pressing her lips against his. It was slow, languid, nothing at all like their last kiss... it sent her stomach plummeting to her knees and shivers down her spine and every other cliché written since time immemorial. Hrithik sighed against her lips and she couldn't help but draw him closer, pulling at the fabric with her hands.
And as suddenly as she began, she stopped, pulling away with a frantic gulp. His breathing was heavy as he looked at her with hazy eyes and she knew that she must have looked as he did, overwhelmed feelings and emotions neither of them knew what to do with. But they had a movie to shoot and there's no way that either of them could show up in a state of passionate disarray.
He was gone a moment later. Ash sat down in front of her mirror and took another sip of water. It was going to be a long day.
---
No one knew. No one had a clue, she was sure of it. After all, she prided herself on keeping her inner thoughts and feelings an utter mystery to everyone around her. The gift of an actress.
But tomorrow her husband was coming down for the movie premiere. If she wasn't careful, all hell would break loose.
