plazmahThere's this meme going around where you replace white actors with actors of colour in various fandoms that don't have much diversity. I hadn't been familiar with any of the fandoms until I came across ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
entwashian's recasting of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. Loved it! Wanted to do one myself! But... I couldn't think of a fandom. Then dhobikikutti mentioned recasting the Star Wars universe in Bollywood style and I simply COULD NOT RESIST! :DDDD
So here it is, Star Wars Bollywood-ishstyle! Let's divide this shit up.
Luke - Ranbir Kapoor
He's not my favourite actors by any means. But. Perfect mix of a little whiny, a little impatient, a little idealistic, and willing to rise to the challenge.
Leia - Kangana Raunat
And odd choice, I know, but I can't think of anyone else who'd be able to carry Leia's pride and spark.
Han - Akshay Kumar
Again, not a favourite of mine, but he fits the role well. KHILADI SHOT FIRST! ;D
Obi-Wan Kenobi - Nana Patekar
I could see him as the wise but lying master who has lost faith in his former apprentice.
Wedge Antilles - Vivek Oberoi
He'd pack in some great acting for this small role. :)
Admiral Tarkin - Naseeruddin Shah
I can already see him on the bridge wearing that Imperial uniform!
Qui-Gon Jinn - Jackie Shroff
Can't you just see it? "Yeah, the living Force is teh shit." ;D
Anakin Skywalker - Imran Khan
Yesssss he'd do frustrated and gifted and headstrong SO WELL.
Obi-Wan Kenobi- Aamir Khan
Who else is there to play this epic role, he's perfect. Aaaand now I've squicked the Anakin/Kenobi slashers, LOL.
Senator Palpatine - Amrish Puri
I don't care if he's dead, I am casting him. Imagine Mogambo ruled the galaxy? Oh shit. Imagine him coaching Imran Skywalker... "Beta, the Jedi council does not trust you." OH SHIT!
Padme Nabierre - Amrita Rao
Not sure if she could pull off fighting sequences but I think she could do this role. Also, Imran/Amrita jodi = pretty! Honestly, I was tempted to cast Kangana as Padme and Chitrashi Rawat (from Chak De India, Fashion, and Luck) as Leia instead.
Bail Organa - Arjun Rampal
He is so Bail, I can see him with Aamir Kenobi and Yoda right now.
Count Dooku - Amitabh Bachchan
Dooku's speeches would be so powerful and Big B can definitely bring the physicality of the role, I think.
Shmi Skywalker - Hema Malini
It was actually a toss-up between her and Jaya Bhaduri (Jaya does Sacrificing Mother so very well) but I felt like Hema-ji would do that hopefulness Shmi always has really well.
(Originally, I had cast Asian characters to replace the original characters of colour too. But then I figured that since chromatic characters are under-represented anyway, erasure of existing characters isn't all that great. But if you want me to share who I had cast as Lando Calrissian and Mace Windu, I will. *g*)

Kangana - I ~totes~ think Chitrashi would make a better Leia because she is FIERCE. I prefer Amri as Padme though, because Kangana is too schizo to play either role XD

I think Shmi should be Rekha...even if I don't like Rekha. Something about Rekha's role in Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish is very Shmi to me.
And if you happen to remember at all, who were Lando and Mace Windu??
